Welcome to answer an online survey that helps design technology solutions to reduce loneliness!

During the last years, loneliness experienced by young adults has increased. The goal of this research is to explore and develop new technological solutions to reduce loneliness among young adults. This survey is conducted by a research group at Tampere University, and the survey is a part of a doctoral research project funded by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.

We are looking for responses from 18–29-year-old young adults who have experienced any form of loneliness in their lives - whether it has been transient and short-term or more long-lasting and fundamental experience. Answering the survey takes approximately 15 minutes. The survey works best when filled out on a computer screen or other large display, but you can of course complete it on your phone as well. The survey is open until the 18th of October.

Participation is voluntary, and you may stop answering the survey at any time without providing a reason. However, every completed questionnaire is very valuable! The survey is answered anonymously, and individual respondents cannot be identified from the research data.

The research data will be used in a scientific doctoral dissertation. The collected data will be stored until the end of the dissertation project (estimated completion in autumn 2027), after which it will be destroyed. You can find the project’s privacy notice here. By responding to this online survey, you agree to take part in the study. If you wish, you can request more information about the research at: lotta.ylinen@tuni.fi

Thank you very much for your responses!

Kind regards, on behalf of the research team,
Lotta Ylinen, Doctoral Researcher, Tampere University
